How to Get Perfect Winged Eyeliner

makeup for african american womenMastering the art of liquid eyeliner is at the top of many women’s wishlist – its flattering effect has universal appeal. Eyeliner is designed to define the eyes and can be used to modify their natural shape to appear more attractive. Liquid eyeliner has the added advantage of a more fluid consistency that can be used in a more artistic application.

Winged eyeliner describes the flick at the outer corner of the eye that adds extra definition and shape. Popular since the 1950s, winged eyeliner adds a subtle touch of instant glamour. The style is flattering on just about everyone so it is certainly a skill worth learning!

What is the best liquid eye liner to use?

SACHA liquid eyeliner is available in three shades – midnight black, sable brown and navy blue. Smooth and easy to apply, SACHA eyeliner is smudge-resistant with long-lasting staying power. This makes it an ideal option for creating the perfect winged eyeliner look.

How do I create a winged eyeliner effect?

1)    Tilt your head backwards and look down into a mirror

2)    Hold the eyeliner brush somewhere between a 45-degree and parallel angle to the eye

3)    Gently drag the eyeliner brush along your upper lashline, starting from the inner corner out towards the outer corner of your eye

4)    Try to apply the eyeliner as close to the eyelashes as possible

5)    For a thicker line, apply slightly more pressure

6)    To create the perfect winged angle, continue eyeliner along the natural curve of the lower lash line, as if it were continuing upwards towards the outer edge of the brow.

7)    Leaving this tip of the wing as a fine line, extend the line on the upper lash line to connect with the extended line from the lower lash line.

8)    Color in any spaces. Winged eyeliner should appear thicker at the outer corner and thinner towards the inner corner of your eye

9)    Once you have finished, try not to blink for around 10 seconds to prevent the eyeliner from smudging

10)  Step back to ensure both eyes appear even, modifying if necessary

All you need to know about blush

Blush – also known as blusher, blush-on or rouge – is a type of cosmetic product used to add color to the cheekbone area. As well as creating a healthy appearance, this also adds definition to the face.

What types of blush are available?

SACHA Cosmetics offers Blush-On products in a wide range of shades, both in matte and pearlized form. Regular blush, without luster, is ideal for daytime or normal wear, whereas shimmer blush creates a glow that is perfect for evening.

The most important elements to look for in a blush product are vibrant color and long-lasting wear. SACHA Blush-On products are richly pigmented, providing great natural-looking color that is easy to blend across the skin. SACHA offers shades of blush to suit every skin tone, both in light-reflecting shimmer shades and muted non-shimmer options.

What is the best blush color for me?

It is important to take into account your natural coloring when choosing a blush shade. Certain shades will complement certain skin tones more than others – there are no fixed rules, but the classic color wheel serves as a useful guide when choosing complementary colors. The opposing color of your natural underlying skin tone is usually the best match for your skin.

Blush should also complement your eye color and choice of eye make-up, to present an overall balanced look. Current fashions also influence the way we apply blush, as make-up trends are constantly changing over time.

What is the best way to apply blush?

First of all, ensure you have sufficient lighting before applying blush, or indeed any make-up, as your application will be influenced by the way your environment is lit.

Blush should always be applied after foundation and powder, using a soft blush brush. The brush should ideally be held at an angle that is either parallel to or at a 45 degree angle to the cheekbone, using gentle upwards or downwards swiping motions along the cheekbone.

Cream-based blush is suitable for those with dry skin and may be applied using either a brush, sponge or fingertips (for the self-applicator).

Make Your Make-Up Last Longer

Every woman wants her makeup to look fabulous for as long as possible. During long days and special occasions it is important for your make-up to have long-lasting staying power to avoid the need for regular touch-ups. The last thing you want is your make-up fading, creasing or melting off your face before you’ve even reached your destination!

Preparation is Key

The skin must be adequately prepared before you even consider applying any make-up – it is like preparing a clean, fresh canvas before beginning artwork. Ensure the skin has been properly cleansed, toned and moisturized to create an even base on which to work. Moisturizer should ideally be applied around 30-45 minutes before foundation in order to be fully absorbed into the skin. This will increase the staying power of your foundation and concealer.

Fix-It Spray

SACHA Fix-It Spray is designed to set make-up after it has been applied. Its silicone-based ingredients help to seal it in place for hours and provide a flawless, professional finish.

Designed to work with SACHA foundations, powders and eye shadows, it creates a strong hold that significantly increases the staying power of your make-up. With a pleasant fragrance, it leaves a fresh feel to the skin and sets the canvas for further make-up application.

Another advantage of using Fix-It Spray is that it helps to constrict the powder and creates a more natural look. More powder can always be added afterwards if a matte finish is preferred.

The best way to maximize the longevity of your make-up is to use Fix-It Spray immediately after applying powder and then again at the end of the make-up session. This sets the make-up twice and increases its overall staying power. For extra-long wear, apply powder in layers with Fix-It Spray in between each layer – ideal for photography or outdoor events.
