What is an Eye Primer?

An eye primer is a cosmetic substance used to extend the staying power of eye shadow. Once an eye primer is applied, eye shadow will appear more intense and last much longer.




 
Do I always need to wear eye primer?

For a professional finish, eye primer is recommended to enhance the appearance and staying power of your eye make-up. It is ideal for events where your make-up needs to last all day and/or all night – and look fabulous without touch-ups.

It is particularly important to use eye primer if you are to be photographed – this is due to the ‘washing out’ effect of the flash, which dulls the appearance of eye shadow colors. With an eye primer, your eye shadow will really ‘pop’ and be shown at its best.



How does it work?

An eye primer works by creating a strong bond for the eye color and enhancing its pigmentation. It regulates the moisture balance to ensure the eye shadow remains strongly bonded to the skin or foundation.

Does everyone need face powder?

What is face powder?

Face powders are used to create a matte finish when applying make-up. They are designed to control the skin’s natural shine, as well as helping to ‘set’ foundation and concealer.

Applying powder helps to create an even base onto which blush, bronzer and other colored products can be applied – enhancing their appearance and longevity.

Experienced make-up artists can also use lighter or darker shades of powder to streamline or enhance certain features of the face. Although usually applied on top of foundation, powder can also be worn alone to provide a light coverage.

How should it be applied?

Most powders are applied after foundation and concealer. In this way it acts as a setting agent, as well as presenting a professional overall finish. Powder is usually applied over the whole face, using a soft-bristled brush for best results.

You should select a shade that is translucent if you do not wish to add any further color to the face, or alternatively you can use a powder that is colored up to two or three shades lighter than your foundation. Ideally, you should use the same shade as your foundation or slightly lighter.

Following your application of powder, it is recommended to use a fix-it setting spray to create a natural, un-powdery finish and increase the staying power of your make-up.
